Business Activities of Corporations

As outlined in our previous newsletter, establishing a business in Cyprus is a tax-efficient way to conduct business in the European Union and beyond and for setting up an international tax structure. This can be applied regardless of the specific area of business that a corporation is involved in.

A Cyprus “Holding” Company can act as an intermediary between EU and non-EU jurisdictions. Dividend income which is received by the Cyprus holding company from a company that is also tax resident in Cyprus has no corporate income tax and may also be exempt from Special Defence Contribution. Outgoing dividends paid from the Cyprus holding company to the ultimate non-resident beneficial owners are exempt from withholding tax.
